The anonymous protagonist studies a handled cluster of notebook maps, a brass compass, a Polaroid, and a USB beside a laptop as every clue points toward the bathroom mirror.

The notebook's map marks five locations in the apartment:

  1. Behind the bookshelf — where you found the notebook. Check.
  2. Inside the oven — you open it. Taped to the roof of the oven interior: a Polaroid. The photo shows you, standing in front of the bathroom mirror, reaching into the glass. You're smiling in the photo. Your hand is wrist-deep in the mirror surface.
  3. Under the kitchen sink — a compass. Analog, brass, old. The needle doesn't point north. It points toward the bathroom.
  4. Taped under the desk — a USB drive. You plug it into your laptop. One file: `readme.txt`. It says: Layer 5 is the surface. Layer 4 is the code. Layer 3 is the soul. Layer 2 is the dream. Layer 1 is the eye. Waseca is the Nexus. The lake is the Weaving Engine. The mirror goes to 4. The thread goes to 3. The song goes to 2. Only silence reaches 1. Stop running. Start descending.
  5. The bathroom mirror — marked with a star.

Every breadcrumb points to the same place.
