The Prayer Heaven Hears
By Pator Matt – Church of Normal

A little girl kneels beside her bed.
Her hands clasp tight.
Her eyes squeeze shut.
“Please, God… I want my Daddy back.”
Before she opens her eyes,
she whispers again, softer this time,
not upward—but sideways, afraid:
“Please don’t tell Mommy I prayed this.
She would be so angry.”
Across town, a Glam girl posts smiling photos with her new boyfriend,
already calling him “the godly man” she’s been waiting for.
Already rewriting the story.
Already celebrating a wedding that hasn’t even happened yet.
“Look at how happy my daughter is,”
she says proudly,
believing the new narrative,
believing the surface is the whole story.
But Heaven hears the hidden prayers.
Not the curated smiles.
Not the Instagram captions.
Not the declarations from the Glam Tour.
Heaven hears the trembling voice of a child
who still remembers the real home she lost.
And Heaven knows the difference.
You can replace a Facebook timeline.
You can replace a wedding album.
You can replace a bed, a ring, even a house.
But you can’t replace a child’s real prayer.
And you can’t lie to Heaven.
Ever.
