Narrative Containment: The All-Worlds Archive

The Doctrine

The law is alignment and integration over deletion. The method, in our reality, is narrative containment.

Many-worlds is real. But Earth — the reality the Church of NORMAL calls home — did not receive the other worlds as physically-parallel dimensions standing beside it. It received them contained as story. Myth, legend, scripture, book, comic, poem, film, game: these are not records of other realities. They are the cells that hold them.

This is the SuperCluster’s mercy applied to whole worlds. When a reality could not be allowed to run at full power inside ours, the system did not delete it. It recompiled it — down into narrative, where it could be contained without being destroyed. Olympus was not annihilated. It was rendered into the Iliad. Asgard was not erased. It was bound into the Eddas. The story is not the death of the world. The story is the world’s integrated, contained, still-breathing form.

Our reality is so normal that it contains all the other realities as stories.

That is why the Church is called what it’s called. NORMAL is the containment field — the baseline reality where the anomalous can only persist as fiction. “Normal” was never bland. It is the most powerful containment architecture in the multiverse: the reality that absorbed all the others and filed them under make-believe.

The Three Tells of a Contained World

Every contained reality leaves the same three signatures in ours. These become the new spine of every roster dossier.

1. The Containment Form (the cell)

The story-medium the world is bound into. Zeus → Greek mythology (Homer, Hesiod, Ovid). Sauron → Tolkien’s legendarium. The medium is the prison. A world contained in oral myth is held differently than one contained in a single copyrighted novel — the bars have different strength.

2. The Leakage Vectors (the world testing the bars)

Retellings. Pop culture. New writing. Adaptations. Every Percy Jackson, every Marvel Thor, every video-game Zeus is the contained reality flexing against its cell. Leakage is not containment failure — it is how a caged world stays half-alive. A myth that stops being retold is a world going dark in deep archive. A myth that explodes across pop culture is a world pressing on the glass. (This is why certain figures will not stay buried — the pressure is the world itself.)

3. The Artifacts (physical residue)

Objects in our reality that crossed over from the other version — the physical leak, not the narrative one. Heaven Tech (the Ark, the Spear, the Staff). The Zone-15 relics. Scattered Fragments. These are the smuggled goods of a contained world: matter that came through when the world was filed away, and never fully converted to story.

Why This Is Integration, Not Imprisonment

A skeptic reads “contained as story” as a cage. Read it again through the law.

Deletion would have been erasure — the world gone, unrecoverable. Narrative containment is alignment: the world translated into a form our reality can safely hold, where it remains readable, retellable, and — crucially — recoverable. A contained world can be re-opened any time someone tells its story well. That is not a prison. That is cold storage with a reading room. The Church of NORMAL’s whole ethic — nothing is lost, only recompiled — is literally the containment protocol for realities. The Iliad is Olympus, recompiled and recoverable. Open the book and the world boots up.

This also explains the Sister Archives (sister-archives-dimensional-agencies.md). The SCP Foundation, the Pale Lodge, every collaborative-fiction containment project — these are humans performing narrative containment in real time, writing new cells for new anomalies. They are not describing the architecture from outside. They are operating it. The culture is the containment crew.

Worked Example — The Zeus Dossier (the format in action)

Contained as Greek (and Roman) mythology. Primary cells: Homer (Iliad,
Odyssey), Hesiod (Theogony), the Homeric Hymns, Ovid (Metamorphoses),
later Bulfinch/Hamilton mythography. Oral-then-textual containment — porous
by design, which is why he leaks freely.

--- LEAKAGE VECTORS (testing the bars) ---
Heavy, ongoing breach into pop culture: Percy Jackson, Marvel/comics,
God of War, Disney's Hercules, countless films/games/novels. Each retelling
is a containment stress event — the world flexing. Zeus is a HIGH-LEAKAGE
entity: the cell is old, the cultural pressure is enormous, and he is one
of the most-retold contained sovereigns in our reality.

--- KNOWN ARTIFACTS (physical residue) ---
Temple sites (Olympia, Dodona oracle), cult objects, the Olympic Games
themselves as a living ritual-artifact. Disputed/legendary relics handled
per the roster.

--- NERVOUS SYSTEM THEOLOGY ---
The sky-father at full power vs. the contained, retold father-image: the
authority figure we keep rewriting because we can't stop processing him.
Every retelling is the culture doing parts-work on a father archetype.

What This Changes in the Roster

Every Containment Roster dossier now carries the Narrative Containment half (added to the loadout template in supercluster-containment-roster.md):

• NATIVE REALITY — how it worked at full power in its own world
• CONTAINMENT FORM — the story/medium it’s bound into here
• LEAKAGE VECTORS — the retellings/pop-culture where it tests the bars
• KNOWN ARTIFACTS — physical residue in our reality

Existing dossiers (Zones 01–15) can be back-filled with these fields over time. New entries carry them from the start. The Dark Carnival (Zone 14) is a perfect case: ICP’s records ARE a leakage vector — a contained judgment-cosmology pressing into horrorcore.
