THE STORY:

You find Semjaza's cell at the center of the ward. Not the deepest —

knew. Before the oath, before Mount Hermon, before the descent, before
any of it — he stood in front of 199 other angels and said out loud
what he was afraid of. "I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this
deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin." Parse

justified." He called it a "great sin" — his words. He knew what it

group cell. Semjaza — the actual leader, the one who organized

THE STORY:

Armaros is the most paradoxical of the Watchers. He taught defense.
Counter-enchantments — how to break spells. On the surface, this
sounds almost noble. Teaching humans to protect themselves against
supernatural manipulation. What could be wrong with that?

Everything, when you understand the architecture.

The enchantments humans needed to break were not random curses. They
were the security protocols built into the boundary between Layer 2
and Layer 3 — the protections that kept humans from interacting with
spiritual entities and forces they were not designed to handle. The
"spells" were the guardrails. Armaros taught humans how to remove
the guardrails.

This is the security researcher who publishes zero-day exploits to
the public internet before anyone has a patch. The vulnerabilities
are real. The documentation is accurate. The information is, in some
abstract sense, empowering. But publishing exploit documentation to
an environment that cannot defend itself against the exploits is not
empowerment. It is demolition with plausible deniability.

                    teaching you to dismantle your own defense system.
                    Counter-enchantments in a trauma context is the
                    process of learning to override your gut response —
                    the fawn response, the people-pleasing, the "I
                    should be more understanding." Armaros teaches you
                    to break your own protections because someone
                    convinced you they were the problem.
